Membership

As one of Edinburgh's premier bridge clubs, with an existing membership of almost 300 players of all abilities from beginners to Grand Masters, we assure YOU of a warm welcome whenever you wish to join us for an evening of bridge. You can find details and our current subscription fees on our How To Join page, and see pictures of our Board members on our Board page.

Scottish Bridge Union

The Carlton is affiliated to the Scottish Bridge Union (SBU) and we award SBU Master Points for all Club, District, and National events. Carlton membership fees include a personal subscription fee to the SBU, unless you already pay this fee via another SBU-affiliated club.

Competitions

We run an open pairs tournament every weekday evening except Tuesday, and also on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday afternoons (see our Events page for more details). We also run several 'special' Club events and competitions during the bridge season. We also host many heats and finals of SBU National and Eastern District events.

You can view the results of our events on our Results pages.

Education

We run tournaments and classes for those learning—or who want to learn—duplicate contract bridge: see our Classes page. If you are a 'new' duplicate bridge player, we recommend our monthly 'Novices and Regulars' tournament (see our Events page) and the Sutherland Quaich team competition.

Room Hire

You can hire any of our rooms for your League match, training session, conference, or function.
Click here for more details, or click here to view our online room booking diary (the diary page will open in a new browser tab or window).

Articles, Downloads, and Links

We have a number of interesting bridge-related articles written by our members (some with downloads) listed on our Articles page, and a list of links to other bridge sites and pages on our Links page.

How To Find Us

Use the interactive map to help you plan routes to the Carlton, or the Traveline Journey Planner to plan a trip using public transport.
Nearby parking areas are also shown below.
Please note you CANNOT drive directly from Warriston Road into Warriston Gardens as shown (that part of Warriston Road is private); this error is the fault of Google Maps, and thus outwith our control.

A limited number of parking spaces are available at the Club. There are two on-street parking areas near the Club, as shown on the map.

Metered parking is available on the North side of Warriston Gardens. After 5.30 pm, parking in these spaces is free.

Free end-on parking is available on the South side of Ferry Road adjacent to Goldenacre (Heriot's) playing fields. Please note the footpath shown, which leads directly to the Club.
