Deep Finesse Analysis

The hand records include a small grid which shows the highest makeable contracts, assuming best defence and best declarer and dummy play. See the diagram below.

In the diagram above, the grid tells you that:

• NORTH could make at most THREE DIAMONDS or THREE SPADES.
• SOUTH could make at most THREE DIAMONDS or THREE SPADES.
• EAST could make at most ONE CLUB or ONE HEART.
• WEST could make at most ONE CLUB or TWO HEARTS.
